who knew that even though you have a degree, that doesn't garauntee you a job. throughout my years in school that's all my teachers taught me and i believed it. and out of 1500 people who were tested for divergent thinking 98% were tested as genius...and they were kindergardeners too! i really did enjoy this video Mr. Ramirez.
ReplyDeleteIt's true, a degree will get you a better paying job. But, the degree doesn't guarantee you a job. Never stop being a divergent thinker.
ReplyDeleteKevin palencia- Its ironic that schools are made to educate people so when they get to the real world they,by law will have to earn more money, thus again by law have to pay more. part of our capatilist society, but nowadays once you've gotten far your still not making money, because jobs are scarce, or your working in an uneducated place like mcdonalds, what a waste. its also funny how ADHD affects the east more, when the state of CA is ranked 47 in education. i believe cutting the arts is a terrible idea, as it is one of the few things kids look forward to at school, it alows them to think for themselves than memorize a couple of words or notes, which once you get to the real world, some are useless, but the ability to think for yourself is always needed but barely taught.
ReplyDeletethats crazy that they drug kids so that they can pay attention, and that ADHD increases in the east
ReplyDeleteHaving a college degree is better then having nothing, good point. About the kids getting distracted by tv and video games should be something the parents should take care and control of. Not having a guaranteed job with degree does sound kind of awful but thats why you reach for the highest degree and stay positive. Awesome video, the guy made sense ans reminds me of Mr. Sanchez.
ReplyDeleteThis video is important for us, as young adults, to have in mind how things have changed with the economy and the beliefs of many people. I think we should be taught about how to anticipate economy in the end of the week. Also now day’s kids don’t see why they have to go to school and its true because now to get a job after you get a degree is not a guarantee for a job. He also talks about how it used to be back in the days before the 17th century and how there was no public education and I have no idea how life would be right now for kids to live without an education, we would probably work in the fields or anywhere we can get a job to help us continue paying our expenses. Many people in that time got mad about the idea for kids in the middle/lower class to get a said education because they thought that those kinds of kids were impossible to teach or for them to learn how to read or write. They would always ask themselves why they are spending their time on that subject. This makes me really think on how some people can be so ignorant and basically not know how dumb they sound saying all of that. Many people who have succeeded in their life come from a middle/lower class themselves. As shown in the video mostly in half the U.S. in the east side there are a lot of children with ADHD and instead of helping them they are giving them medicine to not get “distracted”. I believe that with medicine doesn’t help them at all it just turns their imagination off. They use anesthetic to shut off their senses, I think that’s not right
ReplyDeletei really enjoyed this video Mr. Ramirez it made me think about alot of things.
ReplyDeletethis video is very convincing. especially the part where he talks about Ritalin, i was on Ritalin when i was younger and what it does is it makes you feel sad, cold, clammy, and also tired. I disliked Ritalin so much, not only me my mother didnt like the child it had turned me into, so she took me off of it. the reason why that part of the video caught my attention was because its true what he said. why do we have to be treated with drugs to be forced to learn? i agree with his theory to that situation. why not let the student be himself and learn the way he chooses to learn?
ReplyDeletethis videos basicly explainig how the public education was made for a different age and us kids now dont see what the adults saw as kids i get it i also kinda think the same thing like the teachings is old and why do we need them
ReplyDeleteGustavo Alvarado Per.3
Some people that understand that teaching kids by baches and by "date of manufacture",have to settle for that due to income ,putting kids in public schools,i dont think public schools are the problem its the things that make us not be bored at school (technology) This vid makes me think
ReplyDeletealejandro... you're right parent do need to take control of their kids and monitor what and how much they watch.
ReplyDeletemagg- the video touched on som many things that i had to post it up for you guys to see. hope you're enlightened.
ReplyDeletejared, your first hand experience goes a long way. i'm glad your mom got you off the stuff.
ReplyDeletegus,
ReplyDeleteI also think some teaching is the ways of old. perhaps this form of teaching via comments and videos on the net is the way of the new.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with everything. We have to find a new way to teach children. I find it interesting that most children are divergent thinkers in the beggining of our education and as we grow older we become less divergent thinkers. Schools teach you how to memorize facts and dates, but don't help us how to critical think. We get trained to just follow directions that when we are asked for our opinions or our ideas we have a hard time providing them. All children are different and the education system wants us all to learn to their way, but maybe they should learn to teach according to all the different creative children.
